Jerrold Poh, founder and principal
Creating software is unlike any other profession, where value is not provided by the equipment, land, or location of the business, but primarily by the people.
It’s one thing easily forgotten in this industry, and it’s the reason a lot of companies have bad experiences working with agencies or freelancers.
Of course it’s the goal of Blue Cottage to create beautiful software (who intentionally wants to create bad software?), though at our core we remember that the developers and designers who build the apps aren’t machines, the clients who want the apps built aren’t a black box, and the customers who download apps are genuinely wanting something fun to use and valuable in their everyday lives.
This means we won’t treat our customers like idiots, or throw our finished apps “over the wall” and wish our clients good luck, but we instead understand that building software is a human process, and requires a human touch.
Blue Cottage is a Melbourne based company started by me, Jerrold Poh, in 2013 after working nearly 10 years in the enterprise Java space.
Since starting Blue Cottage I’ve moved into mobile, create a couple of startups, and helped companies build their mobile apps and online businesses – bringing what I learned in the startup space to ensure that the products delivered aren’t just useful, but make viable business sense.
